Terms of Service

1. The service and who runs it

Epoch 0 (the “Service”) is a community platform for AI builders based in Japan. It provides a member directory, project publishing, event registration and on-site check-in, needs matching, and an AI news digest. It is operated by Haikou Meilan Junyurui Information Consulting Studio (a sole proprietorship registered in China) (“we”, “us”).

By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using it.

2. Accounts

You register with WeChat, Google, LINE, Apple or an email address. You are responsible for everything done through your account, and for keeping your signed-in devices secure.

One person should hold one account. Where we find several accounts belonging to the same person, we may merge them or suspend all but one.

Some features — the member code among them — require your profile to reach a completeness threshold. We set that threshold and may adjust it.

3. Content you post

Projects, needs, comments, images and video you post remain yours; you keep ownership and copyright.

So that we can operate the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, resize, translate and transcode what you post, within the Service and on its public-facing pages. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups already taken and public pages already crawled by search engines.

You confirm that you hold the rights needed for what you post, and that it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trade marks, privacy or other rights.

4. What you may not do

Post content that breaks the law where you are. Post content that infringes someone else’s rights. Post false or misleading information, or impersonate anyone. Scrape the Service at scale by automated means. Attempt to circumvent quotas, levels, moderation or permission checks. Interfere with the Service’s operation or its security mechanisms. Use another member’s contact details to solicit them without their consent.

5. Member code, events and check-in

Your member code identifies you at the store and at events. It is short-lived, refreshes automatically, and is for your use only. If it is transferred, lent or shared as a screenshot, we may disable the code or the account.

Where an event has limited places, registrations are handled in order and anyone beyond capacity joins the waitlist. Some perks — priority promotion off the waitlist among them — depend on member level. Organisers set the specific rules on each event page.

Check-in happens when a staff member scans your code. Attendance records are used for statistics and for your activity score.

6. Publishing quota and member level

To keep content quality and moderation capacity manageable, there is a weekly limit on how many projects one person can publish, with the allowance varying by member level. Drafts do not count against it.

Your member level is computed from what you actually do in the community: publishing work, receiving recognition, showing up, making introductions, and checking in. Levels never go down. The perks attached to each level are set by us and may change, but we will not take away a level you have already reached.

7. Moderation

What you post is screened automatically, with human review where needed. We may unpublish content that breaks these terms or the law, and suspend the account where necessary. You can appeal an unpublishing decision from within the Service.

8. Changes and interruptions

We may add, change or discontinue parts of the Service at any time. Where maintenance, a fault, a third-party outage or force majeure interrupts the Service, we will make reasonable efforts to restore it, but we are not liable for indirect losses arising from the interruption.

9. Disclaimer

The Service is provided as is. We make no warranty regarding contact, collaboration, transactions or investment between members, and we are not responsible for disputes arising from them. Aggregated news content comes from third-party sources and we are not responsible for its accuracy.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for damages arising from your use of the Service will not exceed what you have paid us for it (zero, where you use it free of charge).

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page; see the Privacy Policy for what that does. If you breach these terms seriously, we may suspend your account after notice — or, where the matter is urgent, suspend first and notify afterwards.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China (excluding Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan). Disputes arising from the Service should first be discussed in good faith; failing that, the People’s Court of Meilan District, Haikou has jurisdiction.

⚠️ The above does not affect consumer protections you hold under the law of your habitual residence that cannot be waived by agreement. In particular, users resident in Japan may rely on the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of Japanese law and may bring proceedings in Japan. Likewise, nothing in these terms excludes the application of Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) to us.

12. Changes to these terms, and operator

If we make a material change we will publish it on this page and notify you in the Service. Continuing to use the Service means you accept it.
